Background: Migrant Health Collaborative of South Jersey is forming in October, 2022. Participants include non-profit organizations, civic clubs, other groups, and individuals. Schools, colleges, medical providers, and businesses are also invited to join us! We plan to work closely with the NJ Department of Health, Office of Rural Health.
Our work: Members of the collaborative will focus on identifying, setting up, or expanding projects and programs addressing medical and social-emotional needs of migrant workers, immigrants, and their families.
Current request list: ShopRite or Walmart gift cards, toiletries - any size, unopened. Watch for our request list updates on this blog or on our Face Book page.
Volunteer: Volunteer opportunities vary, depending on events and programs being organized. Contact us to request a volunteer application.

Dr. Emma Cortes, founder and director of Migrant Health Collaborative, is a physician whose area of focus is Global Health. Her background includes Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. She has worked with international communities in Philadelphia and New Jersey including groups from West Africa, Central America, Mexico, and Haiti. She has also worked on clinical care based projects in Mexico.
Dr. Cortes grew up in South Jersey, where she attended university and medical school. She visited migrant camps as a volunteer with Migrant Worker Outreach & Haitian Migrant Worker Outreach (MWO) from 2020 through 2022. She served on the executive board of MWO for two years.
Dr. Cortes enjoys spending her free time bird watching and cycling in the Pine Barrens and at the shore.
